Ringkasan Cerita FILM THE WAY BACK (2010) :

Gulag, 1940. Bisa jadi tempat ini adalah tempat paling mengerikan di seluruh dunia. Tak ada penjara dengan sistem brutal seperti ini. Tak ada orang yang ingin berakhir di sini dan mustahil pula untuk bisa lolos dari neraka ini. Tapi sepertinya fakta ini tak membuat sekelompok kecil tahanan dengan tekad besar jadi gentar.

Janusz (Jim Sturgess), Valka (Colin Farrell), Smith (Ed Harris), Khabarov (Mark Strong), Zoran (Dragos Bucur), dan Voss (Gustaf Skarsgård) adalah enam orang dengan tekad baja itu. Dengan tekad bulat, mereka melarikan diri dari Gulag. Berhasil lolos saja tak cukup karena kejamnya alam masih menghadang di hadapan mereka.

Mereka masih harus menempuh jarak empat ribu mil, melewati lima negara untuk bisa menghirup udara bebas. Di tengah perjalanan ini mereka bertemu seorang gadis bernama Irena (Saoirse Ronan) yang kemudian menyertai perjalanan mereka menuju India. Mampukah mereka semua bertahan dari ganasnya alam?
